God set the penalty of sin as death (Romans 6:23) 3. Therefore, a sinner must die… (Ezekiel 18:20) 4. OR – blood be shed for him (Lev. 17:11) B. Since the wage of sin is death, blood must be shed. 1. Blood was shed in the Garden at the first (Gen. 4:21) 2. Blood is required for sin to dismissed (Heb. 9:22) C. Justice must be served. II. All the Old Testament points to the cross.

He died not for His own sins, but for the sins of others. C. He did not have to die, but He did because He loved us. IV. The Resurrection. A. Christ did more than just die for us; He rose again so we could live forever. B. His death saves us from sin and its penalty C. His victory over death allows us eternal life. |
