I acquired this letter on eBay a few years back. It is dated almost nine years before Chipps was shot and killed by J. Frank Norris. While the death and trial are legendary, glimpses into the mundane business life like this help make the story all too human.
The original letter had been slightly cut down and pasted on thicker paper, perhaps in a scrapbook.
